Letter to members regarding the Canada-Saskatchewan Job Grant

Published by CME Staff on September 19, 2014

Over the past couple weeks, several members have brought forward questions in regards to the application and delivery process of the Canada-Saskatchewan Job Grant (CSJG). Please note that the CSJG is now active and open to application. To better clarify the necessary steps, we have been working closely with the Ministry of the Economy to detail what you need to do to capitalize on this vital program:

  1. Visit www.economy.gov.sk.ca/job-grant to review program eligibility. Should you have a training project you would like to use CSJG to fund, consider the following:
    • Can you create a new Saskatchewan job or sustain an existing Saskatchewan job for the trainee upon completion of the training project?
    • Does the proposed training provide a credential, skill or qualification that is in-demand by the employer?
    • Is the training provider located in Saskatchewan? And if not, why is an out-of-province provider needed and do they provide the best return on investment?
  2. If you’re interested in participating, download the CSJG Checklist. Complete the checklist and submit it to your nearest Labour Market Services (LMS) office by fax, e-mail, mail or in-person. A list of offices and the corresponding contact information is on page two of the checklist.
  3. Within 48 hours (two business days), an LMS representative will contact you to learn more about your targeted training initiative. If the CSJG is determined to be the best program to meet your training needs, your LMS representative will work with you to develop a CSJG training project application.
  4. Within 1-3 weeks from initial submission of the eligibility checklist, LMS will advise you of the approval status of the proposed training project. If approved, you may select the eligible training participants and have them complete trainee pre-project reporting.
  5. Once the training has been completed (within 30 days of completion), final financial and activity reporting must be submitted back to your LMS representative for review. Within 5-8 business days of receiving all documents, expense eligibility will be verified and reimbursement will be provided.

To better answer your questions on the CSJG, we will be holding a one-hour conference call with Labour Market Services officials on Wednesday, October 1, from 1 – 2 p.m. To participate, please dial 1-866-962-9051 and use access code 6755849.

In the meantime, please let me know directly if you require further assistance.
