Published by CME Staff on May 11, 2014

Employment in Saskatchewan's manufacturing sector spiked 1.7 per cent during the month of April, to 29,300 workers — more than three per cent higher than the 12-month average of 28,400 set in 2013.

On a year-over-year basis, the tally is also 14.9 per cent higher than levels recorded in April 2013.

Manufacturing sales in the province, meanwhile, have jumped off to a quick start in 2014 as well. Output in January was 11.6 per cent higher than one year ago, while February numbers received another notable bump of more than 12.7 per cent. March sales data is scheduled to be released Thursday.
